ILOILO City – A man shot his wife before turning the gun on himself in Barangay Cuartero, Jaro district, on Tuesday night, April 25.
Romeo Paclibar, 66, was a retired seafarer. He died of a gunshot wound to the head.
His wife, Sara, 66, sustained a gunshot wound on her knee. She was brought to the Iloilo Mission Hospital for treatment.
Police Captain Lester Oliveros of the Jaro district police said in an interview with Panay News that the couple was usually arguing.
“Permi gid man na kuno sila gabais about sa kwarta and may initial information nga ang babahi nagpa-barangay kag naka-schedule sila sang iya bana maatubangay… didto ni guro nag-worse pa gid ang situation nga nangakig si Paclibar,” said Oliveros.
The police added: “Ang rason nga ipa-barangay niya ang iya bana tungod nga permi siya kuno ginapahog nga tiruhon.”
In an interview with radio station DYRI RMN Iloilo, Sara’s nephew said the two usually argued about the 40 pet dogs under her care.
The nephew also said the couple had been estranged for quite some time.
