ILOILO City – A 41-year-old man landed in a hospital after he was shot by a retired Philippine Coast Guard personnel in Zone 6, Barangay Calumpang, Molo district around 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14.
According to Captain Ryan Crist Inot, Molo police chief, the victim identified as alias “Carl” forcefully knocked on the suspect’s gate and aggressively demanded food to pair with his alcohol.
When the victim entered the suspect’s property, he allegedly attacked the retired officer, prompting the latter to draw his firearm and shoot him, Inot said.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound on the head.
The suspect voluntarily surrendered to authorities, handing over the firearm used in the incident.
Initial investigation revealed that both the suspect and the victim were under the influence of liquor. Police also uncovered a prior dispute between the, which may have fueled the confrontation.
As of this writing, Molo police were still investigating the incident./PN
