BACOLOD City – He slashed his wife’s neck due to jealousy, police said.
The 38-year-old Alberto Vergara was detained in the lockup cell of the Kabankalan City police station after he surrendered.
Vergara’s 35-year-old wife Merlita died of two slashes on the neck after he attacked her using a gaff (bulang) around 5 a.m. on Saturday in Sitio Tuburan, Barangay Tampalon, Kabankalan City.
Merlita was pronounced “dead on arrival” by attending physician Dr. Therese Larae Morata at the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City.
Vergara – a native of Barangay Poblacion 2, Sagay City, Negros Occidental – faces a parricide charge./PN
