ILOILO – A 23-year-old man died after he was repeatedly stabbed in Barangay Bariga, Banate town around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9.
John Ronie Barba, a resident of the said place, sustained over 30 stab wounds in the different parts of his body. He was declared dead on arrival at the Barotac Viejo District Hospital.
According to Captain General Enrique, Robles, chief of the Banate Municipal Police Station (MPS), police officers arrived at the crime scene to find Barba lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds.
The suspect fled immediately after the attack but he was identified based on eyewitness account.
Captain Robles said they are looking at personal grudge or family dispute as the motive behind the killing.
As of this writing, Banate police’s investigation was ongoing as they continued to gather evidence and locate the suspect./PN
