BACOLOD City – A 41-year-old man in Sagay City, Negros Occidental and a student in Cadiz City committed suicide, police said.
Elmo Lape Dumdum of Barangay Poblacion, Sagay City was found hanging in Purok Kalubihan, Barangay Oblation of the same city at around 11:10 p.m. Monday.
Police said the victim bid goodbye to his youngest son.
His live-in partner, Mary France Encargado, 30, later tried to contact him through his cellphone, to no avail.
Encargado searched for Dumdum and found the latter hanging from a guava tree, with a wire tied around his neck.
Citing investigation, police said a family problem prompted Dumdum to kill himself.
In Cadiz City, a 15-year-old Grade 9 student was also found hanging inside their house at around 9 a.m., Tuesday in Barangay Andres Bonifacio.
The Women and Children Protection Desk of the Cadiz City police station, which is investigating the case, refused to disclose the identity of the student.
Police were still trying to determine what prompted the student to kill himself.
From what they have gathered so far, the motive had something to do with his love life.
The victim’s body was at the Negrense Funeral Parlor in Cadiz City as of this writing./PN
