AKLAN – A 20-year-old motorcycle-riding man narrowly escaped death after he was ambushed in Barangay Cabatanga, Makato, Aklan, on Wednesday night, March 6.
Police said despite his injuries, alias “Pat” managed to reach his home, where he sought help.
Responders from the Makato Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) immediately arrived and rushed him to the hospital for medical treatment.
According to the victim’s brother-in-law, alias “Jonel”, the assailants suddenly blocked the victim’s path, forcing him to stop. One of the suspects attempted to shoot him with a shotgun but it misfired. They then resorted to hacking the victim in the nape and hand before fleeing.
The suspects were last seen wearing black shirts and facemasks.
Police recovered five spent shells from the crime scene.
As of this writing, Makato police were still investigating the incident to identify the assailants and determine the motive behind the attack./PN
