KALIBO, Aklan – A man was apprehended on Wednesday. Police said he killed his stepfather in New Washington, Aklan.
The crime was carried out around 2 p.m. of Feb. 6, police said. The 27-year-old suspect Arjon Kenji Abella stabbed to death 62-year old Eliseo Barlas, a native of Barangay Culasi, Roxas City but temporarily staying in District 7, Pinamuk-an, an island barangay across the town of New Washington.
Abella attempted to flee the scene but was cornered by neighbors and local barangay tanods.
The suspect was turned over to the New Washington police and is now detained at the town police station’s lockup facility.
Police recovered from Abella a bladed weapon. They believed it was used on Barlas.
The victim was found by neighbors lying in a pool of blood – and with at least 12 stab wounds – on Wednesday afternoon.
A conflict involving household chores was what reportedly motivated the killing.
The suspect’s mother, also the victim’s live-in partner, was not at their house at the time of the killing. (Akean Forum/PN)
