Manapla man stabbed over misunderstanding

BACOLOD City – Misunderstanding triggered a man to stab another in Sitio Pulo, Barangay Tortosa, Manapla, Negros Occidental, police said.

The 27-year-old resident Dinnes Tarlac sustained a stab wound on the neck, a police report showed.

Tarlac was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City where the attending physician pronounced him β€œdead on arrival.”

Police identified the suspect as the 26-year-old Reylan Hautea, also a resident of the village.

Tarlac and Hautea had an altercation which resulted in a fistfight outside a benefit dance around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, police said.

Hautea then attacked Tarlac using a bladed weapon.

Hautea escaped but was caught in a police hot pursuit operation. He was detained at the Manapla police station lockup facility./PN
