ILOILO City – Mandurriao National High School started its campaign in the 2017 Iloilo City Invitational Basketball Tournament on a bright note following a 77-42 domination of Iloilo City National High School on Monday at the Barangay Katilingban Gym in Molo.

Felicito Castor spearheaded the attack with 19 points for Mandurriao High, which tied Sun Yat Sen High School at second place in the standings with a 1-0 win-loss record.

In the 40-and-up category, the Double B team joined idle Iloilo PROS and PISAI on top of the standings with a 1-0 win-loss slate after beating the debuting Iloilo Tuesday Club, 98-89.

Meanwhile, Iloilo City High (0-2) hopes to snap its losing skid when it faces Sun Yat Sen at 2 p.m. today. The Silver Knights, on the other hand, will be gunning for its third straight win against Iloilo National High School at 3:30 p.m.

The Double B team is eyeing solo leadership in the 40-and-under category as it faces Iloilo Executive (0-1) at 5 p.m., followed by the games between MASA (0-1) and Iloilo Tuesday Club (0-1) at 6:30 p.m.

The 2017 Iloilo City Invitational Basketball Tournament, also known as the Mayors Cup-1st Conference, is organized by the Iloilo City Government and presented by Flanax and Bonamine.

For the collegiate category, the champion will receive P10,000 while the second and third placers will get P8,000 and P5,000, respectively. Meanwhile, in the College and 40 and up divison, first prize is P5,000, while second and third prize are P3,000 and P2,000, respectively./PN
