Marby Arcade, Bacolod Steel win Fil-Sino titles

BACOLOD City — Marby Arcade and Bacolod Steel Center captured the Fil-Sino Intercompany Inter-color basketball tournament Class A and B titles, respectively, at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School here.

Marby Arcade La Salle defeated 360 Modern Café, 89-80, in Class A, while Bacolod Steel Center escaped Johann Kendrick Tan, 67-66.

Mark Binguan, Oliver Manaloto and Bren Tajonera spearhead Marby’s offensive to control the first quarter, 22-14, and end the half at 40-35.

Marby Arcade was led by Jappy Cuaycong with 15; Direk Sibug added 12; Rey Pandoro, eight; Binguan and Manaloto, seven each; and Tajonera, six.

Yan Yan Dy and Robbie Jalandoon paced 365 with 16 points each; Michael Ang and Marc Lo shot 10 apiece; Jose Miguel Montinola, eight; and Franklyn Madrid, seven.

A free throw from Bacolod Steel Center’s Keith Banzon sealed their victory in Class B.

The score was tied at 66-all with 11 seconds left through JKT Aldrian Tan put back and a fade-away triple by Luigi Coo.

Banzon got free from a screen play and drove the baseline but was fouled with 5.3 seconds left to complete his free throw. JKT fumbled in the last .9 seconds.

Banzon paced Bacolod Steel with 14 points; Joshua Lao added 12; Jeremy Coo shot 11; Simon Tan, seven; while Jolly Castillo and Rosales, six each.

Coo had a game-high 21 points; Edward Uy scored 17; Nico Yap, 11; Biboy Uysang , six; and Monroe Chua, four./PN
