MARC Nelson released a statement on Jan. 22 after getting the ire of netizens for testifying against Maggie Wilson, his former co-host and friend.

Wilson recently revealed via Instagram Stories that Nelson backed up the claim of her estranged husband, Victor Consunji, that she caused emotional distress and psychological harm to their son, Connor.

This came with the former beauty queen’s announcement that the court has denied Consunji’s petition for a temporary and permanent protection order under the Violence Against Women and their Children Act to keep their son away from her.

In his statement, Nelson stressed that he has “intentionally never gotten involved” in Wilson and Consunji’s feud, saying that his only concern is Connor, who happens to be his godson.

He said that the child opened up to him about being in an “uncomfortable position” following Wilson’s social media posts amid her dispute with Consunji.

“He (Connor) has already experienced many changes in his life and, unfortunately, has to navigate them publicly. At his age, he is beginning to build his identity and form new connections in school and within his community, which makes these public stories potentially harmful in the long run,” Nelson explained.

He added: “In a one-on-one conversation, he expressed to me how upset he has been about the social media posts his mother has made concerning him during the dispute between his parents. He specifically shared that these posts place him in an uncomfortable position, drawing unwanted attention and questions from both peers and adults — attention he neither likes nor wants.”

“That is why, when called to testify, I had told the judge only what my godson had told me, nothing more and nothing less. This was for the express reason to have those particular posts about him stop and preserve his well-being.”

Nelson and Wilson co-hosted the Metro Channel travel show “Beached” back in 2018.

Last year, Wilson took to social media to share how she has not been able to see her son since parting ways with Consunji. (ABS-CBN News)
