ILOILO – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will be in Passi City today.

He will distribute Certificates of Land Ownership Awards (CLOAs) and grace the grand opening ceremony of the 18th National Scout Jamboree.

Undersecretary Jesry Palmares of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) said the President will distribute more than 2,100 CLOAs to agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) from Panay Island, mostly from the province of Iloilo, at the Passi City Arena.

Also attending the distribution is DAR secretary Condrado Estrella III.

Following this, there will be a turnover of farm machinery and equipment and tissue culture facilities to different farmer organizations.

With this, Palmares reminded beneficiaries to till and cultivate their lands and make them productive.

The land should not be sold within 10 years or else the national government will revoke the land title, he added.

“They have to take care of it, and they have to cultivate it. We will support them in many ways. Amo na nga naga-organize kita sang farmer organizations para makabulig padayon sang ila panguma,” said Palmares.

President Marcos will also grace the opening ceremony of the 18th National Scout Jamboree of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines in Camp Pintados de Passi in Barangay Sablogon.

Around 35,000 scouts and scoutmasters from different parts of the country are expected to participate in the event slated from Dec. 11 to 17.

“We’re very happy that they confirmed four to five days ago nga maayo na ang nabatyag sang Presidente, and he really wanted to go to Passi City and spearhead the activity of DAR and the 18th National Scout Jamboree,” Palmares told Panay News.

This will be the first visit of the President to Passi City. During the presidential campaign, the Passinhons were expecting him to be there, but he was not able to go because of his busy schedule.

Palmares also believed that hosting the national scout jamboree would have positive economic impacts, from the tricycle drivers up to hotel accommodations.

“Things move, the economy moves,” he said.

Also expected to grace the scout jamboree’s opening ceremony are Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio, Sen. Imee Marcos, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Sen. Christopher Lawrence Go, Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., and some Cabinet secretaries, among others.

The DAR Undersecretary further assured that police security was in place to maintain peace and order during the two events./PN
