In her latest vlog, Mariel Rodriguez shares how she planned the surprise birthday party for husband Robin Padilla under the guise of it being her birthday party. Mariel turned 35 on August 10, while Robin is turning 50 on November 23.
Mariel and her team went through many challenges: they had to change the venue at the last minute because of heavy rain, Robin unexpectedly dropped by the final preparations of the party, and most of all, Mariel was rushed to the hospital the day before the event!
Mariel, who’s pregnant with her second child with Robin, was in the middle of filming “It’s Showtime” when she suddenly got cold sweats and felt like vomiting. The first aid medic of ABS-CBN confirmed that she was experiencing contractions, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, Mariel and her baby, Maria Gabriela, were okay.
At the hospital, Robin suggested postponing the party, but doctors later discharged Mariel and allowed her to go to the party as long as she rested after.
With all the challenges of mounting the party, it was sweet victory for Mariel when they pulled off the surprise. Robin was truly surprised and touched that all his close friends and family—and even President Rodrigo Duterte—celebrated his 50th birthday with him. (Cosmo.ph)
