BACOLOD City — A suspected marijuana peddler fell into a police dragnet yesterday in Binalbagan town.
Forty-four-year-old Arnulfo Orense had with him several dried marijuana cigarettes and a block of marijuana fruiting.
Orense was collared after handing to a police poseur buyer several dried marijuana cigarettes in exchange for P150.
Police staged the buy-bust operation in a bus in Barangay San Vicente, a few meters away from the Binalbagan municipal hall.
Orense was onboard the bus on his way home to Barangay Talacdan, Cauayan.
A further search of the suspect yielded a pack of marijuana cigarettes and a block of marijuana fruiting.
Orense admitted selling marijuana to high school students in his hometown.
He also confessed that he sources the substance from a popular drug pusher in Hinigaran, said Senior Inspector Albert Sy of Binalbagan police station.
Sy, however, refused to disclose the drug personality’s name.
Orense was detained in Binalbagan police station.
Binalbagan police said this was the second time they have confiscated dried marijuana cigarettes in the last two months.
Last month they also recovered 41 sticks of dried marijuana cigarettes from a drug suspect whom they have hauled to jail.
In another buy-bust operation, police arrested Ceferino Lobaton, 42, in Purok Bangkusay, Barangay Poblacion 2, Sagay City.
Lobaton sold to a police poseur-buyer a sachet of suspected shabu for P200 on Tuesday evening in his house.
Superintendent Jose Edel Manzano, Sagay police chief, and his men searched the house and recovered eight more sachets of suspected shabu, eight lighters, a improvised tooter, aluminum foils with residue of suspected shabu, and a mobile phone.
Lobaton was detained in Sagay City police station.
All seized substances were sent to the regional crime laboratory in Iloilo City./PN
