MANILA – Marina Tushova set a new PVL scoring record as Capital1 Solar Energy Solar Spikers scored a 13-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-20, 15-13 upset over Choco Mucho Flying Titans in the Reinforced Conference on Thursday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The Russian reinforcement finished with 45 points, built on 43 attacks, one block, and a service ace, as the Solar Spikers notched their second victory in four matches in the PVL mid-season conference.

Tushova’s 45-point output broke the previous PVL record of 44 points set by former Akari Power Chargers reinforcement Priscilla Rivera during the 2022 PVL Reinforced Conference.

“I do not about the (PVL) records and, about my numbers today, just huge desire. I love to play here, I love this squad, and it’s a huge enjoyment to play here,” Tushova said in a post-game interview.

“On my 45 points, it was good but I am not like I am on top of my career,” she added. “In fact, I think, I did not do too much in the game because I am telling my teammates to do more, more, and more.”

Leading 13-12 late in the fifth set, the Flying Titans were able to force a deadlock after Tushova’s attack sailed outside. Capital1 then wrapped up the game with an attack from Norielle Ipac and a backrow hit from Tushova.

Lourdes Clemente added seven points, Ipac contributed six markers, and setter Iris Tolenada complemented Tushova with 17 excellent sets with five points for the Solar Spikers.

Zoi Faki led the Flying Titans with 28 points, Dindin Santiago-Manabat added 16, while Honey Royse Tubino and Maddie Madayag each contributed eight points. They dropped to 1-3.

Meanwhile, Cignal HD Spikers dismantled the struggling Petro Gazz Angels in straight sets, 25-19, 25-19, 25-22, to tie the Power Chargers on top with 4-0 win-loss record.

Reinforcement MJ Perez led the way with 20 points, including 16 attacks, three blocks, and one ace, along with seven excellent receptions and seven excellent digs, for the HD Spikers./PN
