MANILA – Marinerong Pilipino Skippers kept its playoff hopes in the 2019 PBA D-League alive. It took down University of Perpetual Help Altas, 90-76, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Gab Banal led the way with 27 points, 12 boards, and six assists while Leonard Santillan chipped in double-double 21 points and 17 rebounds.

Through this Tuesday night victory, the Skippers improved to 5-4 in Foundation Group.

After being down by as much as 12 points at 20-32, the Skippers mounted a huge second quarter run behind Santillan to take a 50-36 halftime edge en route to an easy victory.

For the losing cause of Altas (2-6), Ilonggo Edgar Charcos scored 19 points, five assists, four rebounds, and two steals while Jelo Razon and Tonton Peralta added 15 and 13 markers.

Meanwhile, Centro Escolar University Scorpions relied on the torrid shooting of Tyron Chan to cruise to an easy 116-72 victory over the Wang’s Basketball Couriers to improve to 7-1 win-loss slate.

Chan ignited the massacre, dropping 23 of his 32 points in the first half, before scattering 10 rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

The Scorpions went on a 38-17 start and never looked back.

Senegalese big man Maodo Malick Diouf followed suit with 20 points, 16 rebounds, eight assists, and five rejections, while Judel Fuentes had himself 16 points and five rebounds./PN
