Marinerong Pilipino drubs Trinity in PBA D-League

MANILA – Marinerong Pilipino Skippers rode on a strong showing of Leonard Santillan to beat CD14 Designs-Trinity University of Asia White Stallions, 91-72, in the 2019 PBA D-League on Monday night at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao, Quezon City.

The former De La Salle University Green Archers center spearheaded the attack for the Skippers with 29 points, with 13 coming in the third quarter, while also collaring 10 rebounds.

Santillan’s strong third quarter showing guided the Skippers to blow away the White Stallions from a close 37-31 halftime lead to a comfortable 64-48 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Aside from Santillan, Orlan Wamar chipped in 10 points on a 3-of-5 shooting from three-point area, while Anton Asistio had nine points and three assists for the Skippers, which improved to 3-2.

AJ Vitug tallied 18 points and three rebounds, while Chris De Chavez got 15 points, eight boards, and four assists for the White Stallions, which stayed at the cellar with 0-4 slate.

Meanwhile, Che’lu Bar and Grill Revellers had to survive a late rally from McDavid to come away with a 109-99 victory and tally its first winning streak of the season to improve to 3-1.

Rey Suerte led the Revellers with 26 points, but more importantly scored six of his team’s last eight points to hold off the opposition in the clutch. Chris Dumapig recorded a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winning team./PN
