Marinerong Pilipino topples Chadao-FEU in PBA D-League

MANILA – Marinerong Pilipino Skippers cruised to its second win in the 2019 PBA Developmental League after defeating Chadao-Far Eastern University Tamaraws, 87-63, on Tuesday at Paco Arena in Manila.

Leonard Santillan led the way with 19 points, nine rebounds, and two assists while Anton Asistio wound up with 12 points, built on four treys, for the Skippers, which improved to 2-1 win-loss slate.

The Skippers had a strong first half and went up by as much as 11 points at 44-33 at the half but the Tamaraws mounted a huge fight back to come to within four points in the third quarter.

However, the Skippers was quick to pull away once again on a 16-3 scoring run behind Jed Mendoza for a commanding 60-43 edge with three minutes left in the third frame en route to another blowout win.

“‘Yung mga players ng Marinero, ngayon lumalabasyung extra work nila on their skills. Ine-expect ko talaga na daratingyung ganitong games para sa amin,” said Skippers head Yong Garcia.

Alec Stockton was the lone bright spot for Chadao-FEU with his 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists. The Tamaraws fell to their second straight loss and drop to 1-2 win-loss slate.

Meanwhile, Petron-Letran Knights barged into the win-column after a lopsided 108-91 victory over the AMA Online Education Titans. Larry Muyang tallied 21 markers for the Knights (1-1)./PN
