MARIS Racal released a new single, “Perpektong Tao,” her first new project following her controversy with Anthony Jennings in December.
In the pop song, the actress opens with lyrics about how her secrets were revealed and how she was unable to stop it.
Maris sings about the public changing their views about her and asks if she could be forgiven. She also sings about facing the darkness as she can’t escape it.
“Ang hirap maging perpektong tao,” Maris sings in the chorus.
In the bridge, she sings, “Kung pwede sanang ibalik, di nagpalason sa ‘yong halik. ‘To na ang buhay na kay pait. Mapapatawad pa ba? May pag asa pa ba? Hindi na matakasan kapag oras mo na.”
Maris announced the song on her Facebook page on Thursday night, telling her followers that she’s back.
“Writing this song healed me in ways I never thought possible,” she said.
“It was born from a journey through pain, regret, and the courage to seek forgiveness, a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we can find light,” she added.
The actress also said that she released the song hoping it resonates with those who need it.
In December, Maris was the subject of controversy with her love team partner Anthony.
Anthony’s ex-girlfriend Jamela Villanueva rocked the internet after she took to Instagram Stories to expose Anthony’s alleged cheating with Maris, sharing screenshots of their conversations.
In a video statement, Maris apologized and took accountability. “Nagkamali ako and I wanna say sorry for everything that I have done,” she said.
She revealed that she developed feelings for Anthony, which led to her breakup with longtime boyfriend Rico Blanco.
However, Maris also claimed in the video that Anthony told her he was single, which is why they started a relationship.
Maris and Anthony made waves for their tandem as Irene and Snoop in the series, “Can’t Buy Me Love.”
The two were also part of the Metro Manila Film Festival entry “And the Breadwinner Is…” starring Vice Ganda. (GMA Integrated News)
