MANILA – Former Iloilo City first lady Maria Victoria “Marivic” Mabilog has accused President Rodrigo Duterte of plotting to kill her and husband, the dismissed mayor Jed Patrick.
In a Facebook post, Maria Victoria stated, “It’s been a year and a half of accusations (but) no proof to show.”
“(Duterte’s) fixated with Jed,” she stated in an apparent reaction to the President’s latest statements against the former mayor during a visit to Iloilo Thursday last week.
Duterte stressed how serious the illegal drug problem in the country was then mentioned Mabilog.
“Yung isa, si Mabilog, has been linked several times in the different sources sa intelligence. That’s why nasabi ko na ‘target kita’ kasi lahat ng impormasyon na pumasok, eh galing Army, Navy, Air Force, Police eh nandoon ‘yung pangalan niya…Kita mo hindi na umuuwi ang buang,” said Duterte.
The Mabilog couple left the country in August 2017. They are widely believed to be in Canada now.
“On the contrary, intelligence reports reveal that Jed was never involved in any illegal drug trade or activity,” Maria Victoria posted on Facebook.
She challenged the President to release his “validated” drug list.
“We are not the party that has anything to hide. Hadlok lang kami kay patyon mo gid ya kami,” stated Maria Victoria.
In August 2016 Duterte tagged Mabilog a drug protector and Iloilo as “most shabulized.”
“Lantawa bala obra mo. (It) (s)hows how weak you are…Insinuations and persecutions based on false and made-up evidence is your game,” according to the former mayor’s wife.
Turning the table on Duterte, Maria Victoria challenged the President to sign a waiver and allow the opening of his bank accounts to public scrutiny.
If Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV were to be believed, Duterte’s bank accounts contained billions of pesos in unexplained deposits.
Maria Victoria also dared Duterte’s son Paolo, former vice mayor of Davao City, to bare his body tattoo that according to Trillanes indicated the presidential son’s membership to the Chinese Triad transnational organized crime syndicate.
“Again, sign the waiver and show the tattoo. The people have not forgotten the (Bureau of Customs) drug smuggling exposé yet,” stated Maria Victoria.
Last month, Duterte’s spokesperson Harry Roque said Mabilog’s leaving the country has not ended his legal problems.
There is an ongoing investigation on Mabilog.
The national government seeking Mabilog’s extradition is a possibility, according to Roque.
The Philippines and Canada have an extradition treaty that took effect on Nov. 7, 1989. It is an agreement between the two states to surrender an alleged criminal for the purpose of prosecuting the person or imposing or enforcing a sentence on the person.
The Office of the Ombudsman dismissed Mabilog from government service in October last year for unexplained wealth, some two months after he left the country on Aug. 30 to attend international conferences in Japan and Malaysia. He never came back; aides said he sought treatment abroad for diabetes.
Early last month, another dismissal order was issued against Mabilog by the Ombudsman over an alleged anomalous towing services deal.
The former mayor is believed to be in Canada because his wife is a Canadian citizen./PN
