Mass oath-taking for elected brgy, SK officials in Bacolod

BACOLOD City – The city is set to conduct a formal mass oath-taking ceremony for elected barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials on Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. at the SMX Convention Center, SM City-Bacolod.

At a press conference on Friday, Nov. 3, held at the City Mayor’s Office, it was announced that 976 elected officials are expected to participate in the oath-taking ceremony.

Bacolod is divided into 61 barangays, each represented by eight barangay and eight SK officials.

“We aim to demonstrate our commitment to good governance to the barangay officials,” said Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.

Additionally, Benitez said he is awaiting guidelines from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on the proper mechanisms for a smooth transition for incoming officials.

“Once they fulfill the requirements, they can technically assume their positions,” said Benitez.

He further explained that in order to facilitate the transition, particularly as the outgoing administration is serving in a holdover capacity, “we must ensure that the inventory of barangay assets is up-to-date and that the treasurers are properly bonded to enable them to conduct business efficiently.”/PN
