BACOLOD City – Cash prizes up to P10,000 await the “most festive” carts set up at the Tourism Strip on Lacson Street during the three-day MassKara Festival highlights on Oct. 26, 27 and 28.
Executive Assistant Ernesto Pineda met with a group of vendors yesterday to inform them about the competition spearheaded by the Silver MassKara Foundation Organization (SMFO).
To join the contest and be able to do business at the Tourism Strip, the vendors must first register at the SMFO office located in front of the Seda Capitol Central Hotel along Lacson Street.
Vendors who sell MassKara souvenirs are the only ones eligible to join the contest, said Pineda.
The must make sure that their carts are “well-lighted” and “festive.”
SMFO director Eli Francis Tajanlangit said there will be three winners every night. The first, second and third placers will receive P10,000, P5,000 and P3,000, respectively.
One of the three festival venues, the Tourism Strip is where the parade of floats joining the Electric MassKara competition will be held.
The other festival sites are the public plaza and the Bacolod City Government Center.
Festival organizers said thousands of tourists are expected to come to Bacolod during the festival.
On Monday, a ceremonial sendoff of over 3,000 MassKara security and emergency personnel was held at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Bacolod City Police Office head Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo earlier said they want to make MassKara “safer” this year./PN
