MANILA – Suspended Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo is considering turning herself over to the Senate, which recently ordered her arrest for failure to attend inquiries.

According to her legal counsel Atty. Stephen David, Guo might attend the next scheduled hearing on alleged illegal activities of Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGO) on July 29.

“She is contemplating kung kailan sya at paano sya su-surrender sa jurisdiction ng Senado,” David said in an interview aired on GMA7’s 24 Oras on Monday night.

“Kung magsu-surrender siya ngayon, matagal ‘yang made-detain, hanggang sa next hearing which I think is July 29. Kung dadalo ‘yan siyempre during the hearing na lang,” he added.

David reiterated that Guo did not leave the country, contrary to what others are speculating.

“Kahapon magkausap kami. Matagal din kami nag-usap, more than one hour. Sabi nya nasa Pilipinas sya. Sa tagal ng naming usapan siyempre naniniwala naman kong na nandito sya sa Pilipinas,” David said.

Guo suspected to be part of a criminal syndicate operated by Chinese nationals after the several documents showed that she was personally involved in the processing of documents for POGO operations.

Guo’s citizenship was also questioned due to her inconsistent testimonies about her background and the supposed dubious documents regarding her Filipino citizenship.

The National Bureau of Investigation has previously found out that Guo and Chinese passport holder Guo Hua Ping have the same fingerprints./PN
