EIGHT basketball teams are set to show their wares in the Mayor Jerry P. Treñas Basketball Tournament which starts on Dec. 22 at Jaro Gymnasium in Jaro, Iloilo City.
The competing teams are Asialink/E & C Trucking, P. Doce SBC-Iloilo Doctors College, On D’ Move Sportswear-CPU, DPWH, TEJ Builders, Estancia Mariners, Guimaras Leopard, and Uniwheels.
Commissioner Von Fernandez said each team are required to tap homegrown players with two imports who cannot play together on the floor to give the Ilonggo cagers the much-needed exposure.
“With the rules basically focusing on local players, this edition will be more exciting,” Fernandez said. “We will only allow a maximum of two imports and can play one at a time.”
He added: “With this, our local players will play a major role in hitting their teams’ objectives. In this league, local players mean players who are residing in Region 6.”
Opening day assignments will feature Estancia vs Guimaras; Asialink/E & C Trucking vs Uniwheels; P. Doce SBC-Iloilo Doctors College vs DPWH; and TEJ Builders vs ODM.
Game starts at 3 p.m.
