Mayor of Tobias Fornier positive for COVID-19

TOBIAS FORNIER, Antique – Mayor Jose Maria A. Fornier of Tobias Fornier, Antique is now in 10 days quarantine due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection.

Fortier announces he is positive in COVID-19 on Monday, January 3, through the Local Government Unit (LGU) official Facebook page.

According to Fornier despite following the health protocols he still succumbed to the disease. One of the reasons is his work as a local chief that needs to face different kinds of people, visit some places and it cannot be avoided exposing to infections.  

“I regret to inform you that I am on quarantine leave for 10 days starting January 30, 2022. That despite my intense compliance to the health protocols against COVID-19 but due to the nature of my job as your Local Chief Executive, it cannot be avoided that I can be exposed to infections brought about by this pandemic,” Fornier said.

The Mayor also reminds the people of Tobias Fornier to cooperate and follow the minimum public health standard protocols such as wearing a face mask, social distancing, and hand washing. He also added to stay at home as much as possible if your purpose of going is not essential. This could lessen the risk of transmission.

“I am therefore reminding you to please cooperate and let us all be vigilant in following the health protocols as required by our health authorities for our good and for the good of all Daonhons,” Fornier added.

As of January 30, Tobias Fornier listed 31 active cases of COVID-19./PN
