BACOLOD City – Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez ordered the City Legal Office (CLO) to investigate the commotion that transpired in Barangay 2.
The incident involved CLO’s enforcement team head, Rey Demisana, who was allegedly challenged and threatened by one of the residents during a demolition of illegal structures at Mambuloc Creek on July 28.
According to the mayor, the video of the commotion circulating on social media showed only part of the incident.
“Bati-an ta nga ang video may kulang. So para wala issue, we will have an impartial team that will investigate kon ano gid ang natabo and we will act accordingly,” Benitez said.
He added, “I would like to see the circumstances before that. But if you happen to watch the video, I think we should exercise maximum tolerance.”
Demisana and Police Staff Sergeant Lan Elec Demafelis filed a complaint at the City Prosecutor’s Office through an inquest proceeding against Junjun Meniao, 31, of Barangay 6, for “light threat” and “resistance to an agent of a person in authority.”
Based on the blotter report filed at Police Station 2, “While they operate as a demolition team of illegal structures at Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2, the subject person was creating a scandalous act and tending to attempt an attack on the complainants,”
Meniao was allegedly coming at Demisana armed with a stone and challenging the latter to a fight.
City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. said he received information that Meniao will be filing a countercharge against Demisana./PN
