BACOLOD City – Hinigaran, Negros Occidental mayor Jose Nadie Arceo mulls requesting the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to place the town under the latter’s control.

According to Arceo, he was being tailed by unidentified individuals and he strongly suspected this had to do with the upcoming 2022 national and local clections.

“I’m getting worried. Ga-init na, manug lapit na ang eleksyon,” Arceo said.

The town mayor said it is possible that the individuals following him were planning something bad.

This was why, he said, he sought assistance from the local media in Negros Occidental to expose the individuals.

Arceo said it already crossed his mind to approach the Comelec and ask them to place the town under their control to prevent any untoward incidents, although so far they haven’t monitored any incidents that are becoming alarming.

“So far I think intimidation pa lang [ang] gina himo nila,” the town mayor added.

Meanwhile, Arceo also revealed that critics of his rivals were trying to drag his name in a criminal case in order to derail his re-election bid.

Arceo, accompanied by his legal counsel, claimed that his name was being dragged in a murder and frustrated murder cases that happened back in Dec. 18, 2021, which involved his bodyguard.

“I want to expose this so that the public would be aware of their ill motives against the Hingaranons.  If this General can harass me, I am worried that the people of Hinigaran would be harassed too,” Arceo added.

Arceo’s reaction stemmed over a request for re-investigation of Olivia Salazar to the Provincial Officer of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the murder cases of her son Mark Christian Salazar on December 18, 2021 Pantalan Daan, Barangay 1, Hinigaran and her husband Mariano Salazar on May 2,2020 along the national highway of the same town./PN
