MANILA – Retired American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is not interested in having a rematch with WBA world welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao even if the price is right.

Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe said Mayweather is not interested to come out of retirement to face Pacquiao, who recently came from a successful title defense against Adrien Broner.

“No he is not interested,” Ellerbe said. “He has nothing else to prove. I’m very happy for him. He’s retired. He has no interest in doing that. It’s not always about the money…What more can the man do?”

“He doesn’t have the motivation or the desire,” he added. “He’s living his best life, travelling, running his multiple businesses, spending his hard-earned winnings. He’ll be 42 come February 24. Enough is enough.”

After retaining his championship against Broner, the 40-year-old Pacquiao issued a challenge on Mayweather to face him again after their first encounter ended in a unanimous decision in favor of the American.

“Tell him to come back to the ring, and we will fight. I’m willing to fight again to Floyd Mayweather if he’s willing to come back in boxing,” Pacquiao said.

The possibility of a rematch between Pacquiao and Mayweather surfaced following the appearance of the retired American boxer in the Filipino ring icon’s match against Broner last Sunday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather, in an interview with Showtime announcer Jim Gray, has been vague with his answer on a possible rematch and said that he is now living a happy and healthy retirement life.

Mayweather added that he was only interested in exhibition matches “if the price is right.”
