KALIBO, Aklan – Several media practitioners in the province of Aklan are running for government posts in the May 2022 elections. These hopefuls filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) in local offices of the Commission on Elections last week.
Joel Nadura filed his COC at the Kalibo municipal election office on Oct. 6. The radio anchorman for Energy FM Kalibo is running for councilor.
Arnel Vicente, a former news and public affairs director of Brigada News FM Kalibo, is joining the race for Sangguniang Bayan in Banga, Aklan.
Vicente filed his COC on Oct. 6 as an independent candidate.
Alan Palma Sr. is eyeing a seat in Sangguniang Bayan of Malay town. For his first foray in politics, the station manager of Yes FM Boracay/Easy Rock will run under Pthe rogressive Movement for the Devolution of Initiative (Promdi) party.
Incumbent Kalibo councilor Augusto Tolentino wants another shot for a seat in the legislative council. The long-time radio broadcaster is seeking reelection under Aksyon Demokratiko party.
Radio broadcaster Jonathan Cabrera of Radyo Todo Aklan is seeking a higher position in the provincial government of Aklan. A a former councilor in Malay, Aklan, he filed his candidacy for vice governor on Oct. 8 under the People’s Reform Party.
Jethro Laserna, a media forum organizer, filed his COC on Oct. 1 as an independent candidate for Aklan’s Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s 1st District.
Joselito Edwin Ramos, a former Philippine Information Agency-Aklan staff, is running for councilor in Kalibo under Kilusang Bagong Lipunan./PN
