“WE IN the City of Smiles I think we have to set an example to the rest of the country. We have to show them that even if we’re faced with these challenges, we are strong, we choose to rise from it all, and we still decide to smile. And for that I’m so thankful to be standing here as a Bacolodnon. Thank you.”
This was the impressive answer of Kara Daniela Villarosa to the question, “Much like the rest of the country, the people of Bacolod have gone through so much during this pandemic including losing business. Should the City of Smiles smile through all of this?” during the Question and Answer portion of the Miss Bacolod MassKara grand coronation held at the University of Saint La Salle-Bacolod coliseum late Wednesday night, Oct. 19.
Villarosa, 21, was crowned as Miss Bacolod MassKara Universe.
She was also the pageant’s Best in Swim Wear, Best Gown Designer, and Best in Evening Gown.
She also got three corporate awards.
Among the prizes she received were cash amounting to P150,000, P1 million worth in insurance coverage plus other perks.
The beauty queen said she did not expect to win the pageant, but she was thankful and honored.
She added that she has a big responsibility now for she will be representing Bacolod on the national stage.
Villarosa is expected to represent the city in the Miss Universe Philippines pageant in 2023.
As a physical therapy student of the Riverside College in Bacolod City, Villarosa is pushing for malnutrition awareness, adding “This is something close to my heart.”
Meanwhile, the crown of Miss Bacolod MassKara World was handed over to Janine Gelera. She was also awarded the Best Festival Costume Designer and got one corporate award.
This 21-year-old beauty queen is a student of Nursing at the University of St. La Salle-Bacolod.
She is expected to represent the city in the Miss World Philippines 2023 pageant.
La Consolacion College student Jan Marie Bordon was crowned Miss Bacolod MassKara International. She will represent the city in the Binibining Pilipinas pageant next year.
First runner-up was Eirine Juliane Granada, who will be representing Bacolod in the upcoming Mutya ng Pilipinas 2022 pageant in December.
This 19-year-old lady, who fights for feminism, is a Nursing student of the University of St La Salle-Bacolod.
Nineteen-year-old Sandale Masangcay placed as second runner-up. She is expected to represent Bacolod City during the Lin-ay sang Negros pageant which will be held during the Panaad sa Negros Festival in 2023.
Also a Nursing student from University of St La Salle-Bacolod, Masangcay is pursuing to expand healthcare access.
Wednesday night’s pageant was hosted by Miss Universe Philippines 2020 fourth runner-up Billie Hakenson and Miss Universe Philippines Charity 2022 Pauline Amelinckx./PN
