A 16-year-old faithful devotee of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria is
this year’s Jaro Fiesta Queen.
Chelsy Joy Estabaya always makes sure that every time she’s in Iloilo, she is able
to visit the famous statue of Our Lady of Candles in Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral.
Also known as “CJ,” the 5 feet and 7 inches tall lass is currently a Senior
High School student taking up Strand Accountancy and Business Management at the
La Consolacion College in Biñan, Laguna.
A Chancellor’s List awardee, Chelsy is the unica
hija of Mrs. Sheila and Mr. Cyril Estabaya.
Chelsy said she loves to explore different things and enjoys being in a
different place. She also entered the modeling and pageant industry since 2015
and has won different titles.
As a business student, she dreams to establish a name in this field.
It is her goal to manage her own business and be known by many.
She believed that her personal experience and determination will be useful in
achieving her ambitions.
No less than Mayor Jerry Treñas will be crowning this year’s fiesta queen on
the coronation night later today at 9 p.m.
Meanwhile, Chelsy’s escort and this year’s fiesta King is Ramon Devilles Villanueva
Jr., 22, also known as “Rham.”
Stands 6 feet and 2 tall, Rham is a second year law student with a degree in
Juris Doctor at Central Philippine University.
He completed his pre-law course (Bachelor of Arts in Political Science) at the West
Visayas State University as Cum Laude.
Rham is a consistent academic awardee from first year to fourth year in
college.
He also loves to join different pageants, conventions and competitions during
his college years.
He is the youngest son of Mrs. Judy and Mr. A. Villanueva Sr. and that is why
he is dubbed as the baby boy of the family.
Like Chelsy, Rham is also a devotee of Nuestra Señora dela Candelaria.
Visiting the famous statue of Our Lady of Candles twice or thrice a week is
part of routine that symbolizes his true faith and devotion.
Rham says he dreams to be a lawyer to continue the legacy of his grandfather in
legal profession and to uphold the rule of law.
Thousands of devotees are expected to gather at the Jaro Cathedral today to celebrate the feast of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria Our Lady of Candles.
The annual religious fiesta, aside from religious activities, also provides a venue for the agro-industrial exhibit just around the Jaro plaza./PN
