Megaworld Foundation, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls extend helping hand to families and communities affected by Typhoon Odette

Megaworld Foundation and Megaworld Lifestyle Malls have mobilized relief operations to provide immediate aid and assistance to families and communities in Bohol, Dinagat Islands, Palawan and other provinces affected by Typhoon Odette.

The company has teamed up with the Philippine Coast Guard in providing 25 tonnes of rice to the island province of Dinagat Islands, while it also partnered with various charitable organizations including the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Operation Blessing, Caritas Manila, De La Salle University, JCI Philippines & JCI Manila and GMA Kapuso Foundation in raising funds to support ongoing relief operations.

Megaworld Lifestyle Malls is also enjoining its guests and communities to support relief efforts by donating money or dropping off in-kind donations at its lifestyle malls.  

Guests can send their cash donations through the GCash app by scanning the QR code or through bank deposits using the account details of its partner organizations supported by Megaworld Foundation, which are posted on the Facebook pages of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls and its lifestyle malls.

Donations in-kind including food, water, medicine and hygiene kits, beddings and shelter materials are also being accepted in designated drop-off locations in Eastwood Mall, Uptown Bonifacio, Forbes Town, Venice Grand Canal, Newport Mall, San Lorenzo Place Mall, Paseo Center, Three Central Mall and Southwoods Mall.

“Filipinos are known to be resilient and we know that no storm is powerful enough to dampen our indomitable spirit and ability to rise over natural disasters. We urge everyone to join us in extending a helping hand to our countrymen greatly affected by this calamity,” says Graham Coates, head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.  

In-kind donations drop off points

Those who are planning to give in-kind donations at Uptown Bonifacio can find the dropbox located by the Christmas Tree of Hope at the G/F Uptown Mall.

In collaboration with De La Salle University, Venice Grand Canal in McKinley Hill is now accepting in-kind donations at G/F San Marco Wing in between G-Shock and Popeyes. The donation drive will run until December 27.

At Eastwood City, all in-kind donations will be coursed through the Philippine Red Cross QC Chapter, Philippine Air Force, and Diocese of Cubao to be distributed to typhoon victims. Donation boxes will be located at the Concierge Booth at G/F Eastwood Mall and G/F City Walk 2.

Working together with JCI Philippines and JCI Manila, Newport City in Pasay is encouraging residents and neighboring communities to donate in-kind, with four drop boxes located in the lobbies of Newport City residential buildings.

Forbes Town in Taguig City is collaborating with non-government organization 1000 Bear Hugs to provide comfort to children amid Typhoon Odette. They are mounting the Heartwarming Toy Drive that aims to collect huggable bears and plushies for kids. Those who are looking to donate can give preloved or brand new toys, with a maximum height of 24 inches. They must be clean and in good condition. Visitors can drop off huggable dolls and plushies at 2/F Eight Forbes, Forbes Town until December 31.

Shaka Cafe also at Forbes Town is a collection point for any relief goods and is accepting food, water, clothes, tarpaulins, charging banks, emergency lights, sanitary items, beddings, tents, and other essentials. The drive is open at Shaka Cafe, Burgos Circle until December 31.

San Lorenzo Place, Three Central Place, and Paseo Center in Makati have have set up drop off areas located at SanLo Mall, Mall Entrance along EDSA (near Robinsons Easymart); Three Central Mall, G/F Escalator Area, (near Dean & Deluca); and Paseo Center, G/F Escalator Area (near J.CO).

Southwoods Mall in Biñan, Laguna is doing a fundraising campaign for victims of Odette. On December 24 to 25, they will hold a Sing for A Cause event, which will feature performances from a local chorale. Along with the musical event is an Onsite Donation Drive, where guests can drop off their relief goods and other essentials for the victims of Odette at the Indoor Atrium, Southwoods Mall.
