ILOILO – A man allegedly suffering from a mental illness threw himself in front of a moving van on a bridge that connected barangays Bagumbayan and Bongol in Guimbal town.
The man was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital around 6:25 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28. He had a barbed wire tattoo on his right shoulder, a semi-bald haircut, and was estimated to be between 25 to 30 years old.
According to witnesses, the man was often seen on the side of the road, throwing stones at passing vehicles.
“Without warning, he just jumped in front of the moving vehicle. The police are trying to identify him. We have also attempted to coordinate with nearby towns, but we still have no leads,” said Staff Sergeant Jovan Pastrana of the Guimbal Municipal Police Station (MPS).
The driver of the van, who was en route to Miag-ao town, is now in the custody of the Guimbal MPS./PN
