BACOLOD City – A mentally-ill woman died after eating the poisonous butete (puffer fish) in Barangay Palaka, Valladolid, Negros Occidental.
Rose Ann De La Rosa, 28, died while being rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital on Jan. 27.
According to the Valladolid police, the butete was from the hipon (small shrimps) that De La Rosa’s mother was peddling around.
The mother threw away the butete but De La Rosa kept it and apparently cooked it.
De La Rosa initially complained of dizziness then vomited, police said./PN
