MANILA – Allen Durham came up with clutch hits in the endgame for Meralco Bolts’ come-from-behind win against San Miguel Beermen 104-101 in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Trailing 100 -101 following a triple by Chris Ross, Durham executed a putback from his own miss for Bolts to get ahead 102-101. He followed this up with two free throws to seal the win for Meralco.

Meralco clinched the top seed after the Sunday night match at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum with a 9-2 win-loss record.

With a twice-to-beat advantage, Bolts will face the No. 8 Blackwater Elite in the quarterfinals that starts today.

The reigning Governors’ Cup Best Import, Durham finished with 35 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. Jared Dillinger added 16 while Chris Newsome and Baser Amer had 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Meralco was down 18 points in the third period 53-71 until it made moves behind Durham, Dillinger and Mike Tolomia to come to within 69-81 heading into the fourth frame.

Bolts sustained its rally on hits by Durham and Ranidel de Ocampo to get to 87-89 but Beermen pulled away 96-87 on 5 straight points by Marcio Lassiter.

Meralco countered with triples by Durham and Dillinger to close the gap 95-96. After a basket by Beermen import Terrence Watson, Bolts answered with a trey from Baser Amer and an inside hit from Durham to snatch the lead 100-98.
