THE Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW) a joint venture company between Metro Pacific Water (MPW) and Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) officially inaugurated four major water infrastructure projects in Jaro and Mandurriao Districts, which is seen to enhance water distribution services and reduce water losses to at least eight barangays, ensuring improved water availability to its service areas.
With a budget of 102 million pesos, MPIW completed the pipe-laying expansion project, bridge crossing construction and district metering area (DMA) establishment, located in Brgy Lanit, Jaro (River Plains), Brgy San Isidro, Jaro (Uswag Subdivision), Brgy Dungon A, Jaro, Brgy. MPIW Chief Operating Officer Robert Cabiles said, “We faced several challenges in completing the Project due to restrictions brought about by COVD-19 but with the help of Iloilo City Government, Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) and our local partners we were able to complete the projects successfully allowing more people to receive potable water supply.”
The water distribution utility company that serves Iloilo City and the municipalities of Oton, Sta. arbara, Cabatuan, Maasin, San Miguel, Pavia and Leganes installed 11 kilometers of new water pipes which were completed last quarter of 2021, expanding its water distribution line to 443 kilometers reaching more customers prior its take over of operations in mid-2019.
“We are certain that our communities are happy with the improved water service and increased water pressure, and we will still continue to expand our pipe network so that more people can have access to water most especially to those still-unserved and underserved areas,” Cabiles added.
A 2.4-kilometer project yet again breaks ground to kick-off the total pipe replacement and upgrade of distribution lines in General Hughes, Brgy Sto Rosario-Duran, Brgy Veterans Village, Brgy Monica Blumentrit and Brgy Legaspi Dela Rama benefitting 250 households. The project is slated to commence at the start of April this year.
Through these projects and with the goal of keeping sustainability at the core of its business operations, MPIW will continue improving its commitment to provide safe, clean, and continuous supply of water to Iloilo communities. This infrastructure boon will attract new businesses and investments bolstering growth of the economies of Iloilo City and its neighboring municipalities; and impacting the lives of millions of people.
