MG’s global footprint, via parent company SAIC Motor International (SAIC Motor), continues to expand guided by a refreshed Four-Point strategy that focuses on the following: Electrification, Intelligence and Connectivity, Sharing, and Globalization. In coordination, these strategies are designed to effectively provide continuous growth for MG’s overseas network, highlighted by the launch exciting new products, and cutting-edge technologies and services that encapsulate the extraordinary experience of driving and owning a modern MG.
On the front of Electrification, the MG ZS EV continues to make waves in countries where it is available, for being a high-value for money, attainable electric crossover SUV, while also having the distinction of being first pure electric small SUV in countries where it is available to meet Euro NCAP five-star safety standards.
Aside from refining and improving electrification technologies, MG’s pillar of Intelligence and Connectivity is best exemplified by the brand’s thrust to develop SDVs, or Software Driven Vehicles. Through SAIC Motor, MG now benefits from research on intelligent, self-driving, software-driven vehicles. Such technologies have been put into semi-commercial operations in China, the benefit of which is that road capacity forecasts are seen to double in the coming years due to more efficient, AI-driven vehicles.
Numerous developments on varying technological and manufacturing fronts, and refined application of these innovations on MG vehicles are the result of shared research and technology benefits from mother company SAIC Motor—which is now on its seventh consecutive year of being a top-100 company listed in the current Fortune 500 list of companies. In addition, SAIC Motor is now ranked number 52 among the World’s Top 500 Companies, and the 7th among global automobile enterprises by virtue of an operating revenue of US 122.0714 billion, as disclosed in consolidated company statements of 2019.
The last item in MG’s four-point global strategy, Globalization, is most noted in the rapid growth of MG social media followers who now number over 4.45 million worldwide. Aside from the increasing fan base, SAIC Motor’s H1 2020 reports an overall overseas sales volume of SAIC Motor 154,000 vehicles.
Guided by its four-point strategy, MG is devoted to stabilizing its global production and operations efforts, strengthening the company’s economic resilience, and being a leader in progressive, innovation-driven development.
