ILOILO – A dead seven-year-old boy was fished out of the waters off barangays Cabubugan and Nalundan in Guimbal town early morning yesterday.
John Lenard Failaman of Barangay Maninila, Miag-ao town was last seen alive being swept into the sea by huge waves around 9 a.m. on Aug. 17. He was with several cousins swimming in the waters off their coastal village.
“Manogpauli na tani sila pero nanghugas sang tiil niya. Gulpi lang nagdaku ang balod kag ginhakop sia pabalik sa tunga sang baybay,” said aunt Wilda Failaman.
Huge wages prevented cousins from rescuing him, she added.
The boy’s body was recovered past 6 a.m. yesterday by family members.
“Wala gid kami nagtulog asta nga makita tana,” said Failaman.
They scoured the coast of Barangay Maninila and adjoining villages until they spotted the boy’s floating body in the waters off barangays Cabubugan and Nalundan in Guimbal.
Failaman described her nephew as “buot” (well-behaved)./PN
