KALIBO, Aklan – Earthquake of tectonic origin struck the town of Ibajay in this province Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvocs) said.
The quake was felt around 12:23 a.m. Measuring at 3.0 magnitude, its epicenter was traced 21 kilometers northeast of Ibajay, with a depth of 28 kilometers.
In an earthquake bulletin, Philvocs said no damages and aftershocks were reported.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) described a magnitude 3.0 quake “felt quite noticeably by persons indoors especially on upper floors of buildings.”
USGS added many people do not recognize it as an earthquake, standing motor cars may rock slightly, vibrations similar to the passing of a truck. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
