MINNESOTA Timberwolves kept its season alive with a 105-100 win over Dallas Mavericks in Game 4 of NBA Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night (Wednesday in the Philippines) at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Down 89-90 with over five minutes left, Karl-Anthony Towns converted three consecutive three-pointers followed by a layup from Anthony Edwards for a 100-92 lead with 1:47 remaining.
Dallas threatened to within 97-100 on three free throws by Luka Doncic and a basket from Kyrie Irving, but Minnesota responded with a free throw from Mike Conley and a basket from Edwards to extend it to 103-97.
The Mavericks made its last push at 100-103 on a three-pointer by Doncic, but the Timberwolves wrapped up the win on an inside conversion from Naz Reid with 11 seconds remaining.
Edwards had a near triple-double performance of 29 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists as the Timberwolves cut the best-of-seven series deficit to 1-3.
Towns added 25 markers, including four triples, Conley had 14 points, seven assists, four steals, and Rudy Gobert and Jalen McDaniels ended up with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Doncic posted a triple-double of 28 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Irving contributed 16 markers, mostly in the second half, for the Mavericks.
Jaden Hardy came off the bench to deliver 13 points, while Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington ended up with 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the Mavericks.
Regardless of the loss, history is still on the side of the Mavericks as no NBA team has yet to recover from a best-of-seven series after losing the first three games./PN
