Minor, 2 men fall in Mandurriao drug op

ILOILO City – Three individuals – one of them a minor – believed to be drug couriers were arrested in a police operation in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao district.

Saturday’s sting operation led to the recovery of suspected shabu valued at around P15,500 from Christian Gayoso and Joemel Medel, both 20 years old, and a 17-year-old minor.

The suspects were residents of Barangay Banago, Bacolod City, a police report showed.

They were caught after they sold a gram of suspected shabu to an undercover officer around 1:30 a.m. on July 6.

Mandurriao police chief Major Marlon Valencia said his personnel first transacted with the suspects last week.

The arrest of the suspects makes Valencia believe that there is a drug group operating in Iloilo City.

“Gayoso was our target. He has been selling here for a year already. I believe that he has a group here because you could not easily sell illegal drugs to other places without the local contacts,” the Mandurriao police chief said.

Lieutenant Rogen Morales of the Iloilo City Police Office said the suspects were newly identified drug personalities who deliver their supply from Bacolod to Iloilo.

The suspects were detained in the lockup cell of the Mandurriao police station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
