KALIBO, Aklan – A 16-year-old male minor was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion.
The minor, resident of Dasmariñas, Cavite, was nabbed after he sold dried leaves, stem and seeds of suspected marijuana plant to an undercover officer for P1,000 around 7:40 p.m. on Oct. 23, police said.
Police also recovered the minor’s cellphone, containing text messages of alleged illegal drug transactions. He was brought to the Iloilo City police crime laboratory on Oct. 24 but was found negative in a drug test.
Kalibo police station chief Lieutenant Colonel Richard Mepania said the minor was subjected to close monitoring and validation before the buy-bust operation.
“In-assessed siya ng ating social worker, at may discernment ang bata. Dahil dito sasampahan natin ang bata ng kaso. Maaaring may problema ito sa pera at dahil na rin sa bisyo. Positibo na nagtitinda ng marijuana ang bata sa mga kliyente,” Mepania added.
The minor suspect was temporarily under the custody of the Kalibo municipal police station.
He will facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.(With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
