ILOILO City – The developer of a high-density housing project in Pavia, Iloilo assured the public that their proposed expansion will pass through a process.
Glenn Romanillos, Deca Homes general manager, denied that they failed to submit the required papers to the municipal council of Pavia for Phase 3 of Deca Homes, an economic housing project of 8990 Housing Development Corp. in barangays Pandac and Jibao-an.
“We submitted the application for preliminary approval and locational clearance two weeks ago. It is now being tackled for approval by the municipal council,” said Romanillos.
Romanillos said they have a total area of 43 hectares for development. Of these, 15 hectares are in Barangay Pandac while the rest are in Barangay Jibao-an.
Deca 3 will be constructed on the 15-hectare property in Barangay Pandac.
Earlier report said some 600 residents signed a position paper opposing the expansion of Deca Homes due to a projected overpopulation.
Romanillos, however, said only around 200 residents actually signed and that these signatories mostly did not know what they were signing.
Some of them were told that the position paper was for the right-of-way claim, he further said.
“Such position paper is misleading,” said Romanillos, adding that most of the people who attended the public hearing called by the barangay council of Pandac on Aug. 31 were in favor of the development based on their initiated position paper.
He said a certain “Bal-bal”, allegedly a former barangay captain of Pandac, led the position paper signing.
Romanillos believed the former official has personal interest for taking the move. He said this “Bal-bal”, during his term, approved the filling of materials on the site of the proposed development and got P3,000 per week during the filling activity.
When he lost in the barangay election last year, he turned against the said development, Romanillos claimed.
Romanillos also belied reports that there were already construction works being done prior the approval of the applications and conduct of public hearings.
“It’s not true. We only conducted filling of materials on the site,” he said./PN
