ROXAS City – The body of a boat captain from this city’s Sitio Pook, Barangay Culasi, who went missing after lightning struck their vessel, was found dead yesterday morning.
Ricky Boy Barredo, 22, was positively identified by his family based on his jacket and wristwatch.
The captain and three crew members were onboard the Prince Jay fishing vessel at the seawaters of Barangay Culasi when lightning struck around 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15.
Two crew members were uninjured, while the 17-year-old was treated for burns.
The search operation for Barredo was initiated by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the Roxas City Emergency Response Team and the Philippine Coast Guard, together with some residents of the place.
The city government will extend aid to the Barredo family.
