BACOLOD City – A fisherman missing for three days was found dead in Barangay Tuyom, Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
The body of 36-year-old Teoderico Castellano of Barangay Miranda, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental was discovered by locals around 9:20 p.m. on Monday.
Commander Ludovico Librilla, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Negros Occidental chief, said Castellano’s decomposing body was floating a few meters from the shoreline of Tuyom.
Castellano was positively identified by his sister based on his tattoos on the right shoulder.
He was immediately brought to a nearby funeral parlor.
Earlier on Friday, Castellano jumped off his boat to retrieve a water container knocked off his vessel. He was with fisherman Reynold Catalan.
Castellano was unable to swim back to the boat. Huge waves swept him away.
Catalan tried to rescue Castellano but failed. He went back to shore and alerted the PCG substation in Pontevedra./PN
