ILOILO City – A naked woman was found dead in Barangay Pase, San Dionisio, Iloilo.
The 42-year-old Mary Jane Hipolito, a village resident, was already in a state of decomposition when discovered on Wednesday.
She had a head injury, said Senior Inspector Marvin Buenavista, San Dionisio police chief.
Hipolito was found dead four days after leaving home to attend a party but failed to come back.
According to Remy Montejo, also a resident of Barangay Pase, he spotted Hipolito’s body around 10:40 a.m. while feeding his pigs.
“Foul smell at a grassy area near Montejo’s piggery forced her to check the surroundings,” said Buenavista.
From what the San Dionisio police so far gathered, the party that Hipolito attended was held not far from Montejo’s house.
Hipolito was last seen alive there, dancing and binge drinking in the company of eight men between 7 p.m. of Jan. 6 to 1 a.m. of Jan. 7.
Buenavista said his police station has several persons of interest, include four operators of a sound system.
He did not discount the possibility that Hipolito may have been raped.
Investigators found it curious that Hipolito’s personal belongings, including a cell phone, were intact. These were found near her body.
Bautista said Hipolito appeared to have been struck with a hard object at the back of her head.
A big stone with bloodstains was recovered near the body./PN
