ILOILO City – The Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (PNP) are investigating the disappearance of the village chairman of Barangay Aglupacan, Tapaz, Capiz.
The 29-year-old Winnie Dimas had been reported missing for four days as of this writing.
According to his nephew Cherryl Excel, Dimas was last seen alive on Sept. 13 in Barangay Senunod, Tapaz.
His identification card and other important documents were recovered along the Panay River in Barangay Garcia, Tapaz.
Lieutenant Colonel J-Jay Javines, spokesperson of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, said they were closely coordinating with the PNP to determine whether Dimas accidentally fell into the river or was kidnapped by the New People’s Army.
“Through the 12 Infantry Battalion, we are closely coordinating with the Tapaz PNP and the family. Barangay Aglupacan is not a rebel-affected area and is not frequented by armed rebels. The alleged kidnapping could not be ascertained,” Javines said.
He added: “Daw indi man politically motivated kay indi man sya magpadalagan. We don’’t know basi nahulog man sa sapa.”/PN
