DO you think you’re getting away with beating traffic via the yellow lane, buddy? Well, think again.

According to data provided by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), a total of 289,154 yellow lane violators were caught via the agency’s No-Contact Apprehension Policy in 2018. The figure given doesn’t include violations in the month of December, so expect the final tally to go up still.

A total of 539,022 printed tickets and summons have been issued by the MMDA so far this year, and the largest chunk by far came courtesy of yellow lane violations.

If you were caught, we’re guessing your reaction was probably something along the lines of, “But what about the buses and PUVs outside their designated lanes?” Calm yourself, friend. Coming in second on the MMDA’s list of traffic violations is Loading and Unloading in Prohibited Zones, with 85,838 counts via the No-Contact Apprehension Policy.
