ILOILO City – Solar Transport and Automotive Resources Corp. (STAR Corp.), the official distributor of Chinese carmaker BYD, confirmed that it is seeking to build “monorail” systems in Balanga, Bataan, and Iloilo City.
BYD, which makes electric cars in China, has also been expanding into mass transport systems.
While neither Balanga nor Iloilo currently experiences severe traffic congestion comparable to Metro Manila, both cities are keen on “future-proofing” their mass transport systems, according to STAR Corp. managing director Mark Tieng.
“Both have a vision of a solution to traffic,” Tieng said in an interview with ANC. (ABS-CBN News)
