Montalbo splashes 7 medals in NOPSSCEA swimming

BACOLOD City – Coraline Montalbo plunged seven medals in the elementary girls swimming competition of the 42nd NOPSSCEA tournament over the weekend here.

Montalbo, a product of Bacolod Tay Tung High School, finished the two-day competition with three golds, two silvers and two bronze medals to qualify for the Provincial Meet.

Montalbo got her gold medals in 100-meter butterfly where she has a new personal best of one minute and 20.91 seconds, along with 400-meter freestyle and 200-meter freestyle.

On the other hand, she captured her silvers in the 200-meter individual medley where she has a new personal best of three minutes and 7.66 seconds and 50-meter butterfly.

Montalbo’s two bronze medals, on the other hand, were captured in the 4×50-meter freestyle relay and 4×50-meter individual medley relay.

 “As her grandfather, I am proud of her achievements,” said Jose Montalbo. “Since she was young she has already showed interests in swimming so I am very supportive of her.”

Mark Justin Yu, meanwhile, bagged three gold medals in the high school boys 400-meter freestyle, 200-meter freestyle and 1500-meter freestyle categories.

Maxene Hayley Tan Uy, on the other hand, took home four medals in high school girls – two golds in 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter individual medley and silvers in 200-meter and 50-meter backstroke.

Marc Aeno Almacen, for his part, captured two silver medals in elementary boys’ 100-meter butterfly and 50-meter butterfly and bronze in 100-meter breastroke.

Alexis Bailey Tan Uy completed the Bacolod Tay Tung High School swimmers who captured medals when she finished with bronze in high school girls 50-meter butterfly./PN
